Objectives:
Students will identify the impact of important individuals during World War I.
Student will identify and analyze political, military, social and economic issues raised by involvement in World War I. (Holt, Rinehart, and Winston, 2003).

Action:
Each student will be distributed a rubric. I will review the rubric guidelines with the class. Students will be given a handout on how to construct a slide show summarizing the events of World War I Students will be given a graphic organizer to describe significant events and individuals during World War I and analyze the impact of political, military and economic issues by U.S. involvement in WW I.

Lesson:
The students will be introduced to the lesson by asking students to recall a time that two friends were arguing and fighting with each other and both wanted them to take their side. Students will be asked to talk about how each side gave them the reason for the disagreement in their point of view. Then students will be asked what the resolution of the disagreement was. Did one of the friends end up including them into the fight on their side? Or did they get tired of one person and side with the other? Students will then divide into their assigned groups to begin brainstorming.

The next step after the introduction each group will research the internet and use the graphic organizer to take notes. The graphic organizer will be used as a creative thinking component when taking notes on people involved in World War I and the political, military, social, and economics effect on U.S. involvement. The key terms to focus on are Woodrow Wilson, John Pershing, trench warfare and the Battle of Argonne Forest. Students will also research the internet for photos to include on their slide show. Student will be reminded of the copyright laws in collecting photos. According to Dr. Arnie Abrahms in creating digital story students will need to customize images for the story and add titles and captions.



After students have completed their research students will use the information from the graphic organizer and the photos collected to begin creating a summarization of the events of World War I, which will include significant individuals, political, military, social, and economic issues to include in their group slide show.

Each group will use software needed to create their groups slide show. The slide show should include a summarization and photos of significant individuals and titles and captions on the impact on the political, military and economic issues raised by U.S. involvement in World War I.

Accommodations will be given to diverse learners through alternative software that help support diverse learners, teacher monitoring and peer tutoring. Each group will be given an assessment daily with teacher conferences and a summative assessment at the end of the slide show project.
